This is the market area in the town of Tarabuco, south of Sucre. This is a
good village to visit to acquire handcrafted items of all sorts, but particularly
weavings and hand-made clothing.
This is an example of a Jalq'a weaving. It's said that it takes a person about
two months to produce such a weaving. The opposite side has the same pattern in
reverse colors. This weaving cost $60 US.
Huayculi, Bolivia is the village to visit if you're interested in Bolivian
pottery or ceramics. Some of these are ideal for souvenirs, whether small pots
or little figures.
It seems
that many different cultural groups must come to tarabuco to sell their goods
in the market here.
